MALAPASCUA ISLAND
 
is located in the North tip of Cebu. The beautiful Island is about 8 kilometers north-east of Cebu Island in the green-blue Visayan sea. The exotic and enchanting Island lies in the middle of the Philippines. Malapascua Island is about 2 km by 0.5 km in which you can walk around the whole Island in just 1 to 2 hours. Malapascua Island has something to offer that makes one of the tourist destination in the Philippines.

Malapascua Island has its own history. The name Malapascua means "Bad Christmas" or "Unfortunate Christmas". In the 1500's, The Spaniards landed in this island in one stormy Christmas Day. So it is where the island got it's name. But today, Malapascua is tagged as the second Boracay. Many nowadays prefer to go to Malapascua because the Island is not crowded and still unspoiled. The small island has may things to offer that the adventurer seeker needs.

Malapascua is one of the world famous Island Paradise that is known to the world. It attracts many visitors because of its beautiful world-class white sand beach resorts, lush green palm trees and surrounded by clear blue waters. The coral reefs surrounding Island is best for snorkeling. Malapascua is known for its world-class dive sites. Exquisite and lovely coral reefs to sandy muck dives to diving walls. Amazing variety marine life can be seen in the waters of Malapascua. Dive sites in Malapascua have excellent macro that there are always plenty to see. Divers rated Malapascua dive spots as one of the world's best diving sites not only in Asia but in the world.

How to get there?


In getting to Malapacua Island, you have to ride a bus that is marked "Maya Bagay". This is a 4 hour trip from the Cebu North bus terminal. Amazing and beautiful scenery of Cebu towns can be seen before reaching Maya, Daanbantayan. This town is in the northernmost point of Cebu mainland. Upon reaching Maya, local motorized boats will take visitors to Malapascua Island across the narrow channel in 30 minutes ETA.
